Data Based Decision Making
In order to positively impact student achievement, we must make sure that we are collecting and analyzing meaningful data that causes continuos analysis, reflection and action.
Data Analysis Cycle & Protocol
These resources were created and shared with staff as part of our district effort to use a common language and process for analyzing student data. I model this process with Building Administrates and their Leadership teams during data retreats and professional development. They, in turn, repeat the process with their staff and professional learning communities.

As a member of the district Response to Intervention team, I was responsible for guiding special educators and school psychologists in the creation of a flow chart outlining the process of identification for specific learning disabilities. Together, we created a set of guidelines for Beloit to meet the state requirements for the SLD rule.
My RtI team continually collects and analyzes student data to ensure that we are accelerating students toward grade level. We used student data and national normative data to develop progress monitoring criteria and create decision making rules which allow us to respond to student needs consistently across grade levels and buildings.
Progress Monitoring
As a Reading Specialist, I was responsible for data collection and progress monitoring of 355 students in Tier 2 and Tier 3 Literacy Interventions. This data was used for instructional discussions/decisions and for course placement for the following school year.

Scheduling
I served as a scheduling resource for the School District of Beloit. After analyzing student and staff data, I developed our Intermediate School schedule framework.

Sharing data with All Stakeholders
Sharing data with students helps set the purpose for learning and promotes buy-in with our most important stakeholders. This is an example of a presentation I created and used as a staff development tool with 28 middle school teachers who, in turn, shared it with the 456 students in literacy intervention and Aligned Language Arts.
Grading Beliefs
I served as co-chair of the district grading committee. We facilitated a team which consisted of district stakeholders though the process of developing our district grading beliefs. Once completed, we shared the following overview with K-12 staff.
